This record set lists the names of the vicars, churchwardens and collectors or overseers of the poor for the church of St. Michael's in Bishop's Stortford, extracted from of volume on the records of this parish church. St. Michael's is a large church in the centre of Bishops Stortford, and is the original parish church for the town. The three lists start at different dates, but all continue up until 1881. Names are listed in date order with Christian name first followed by surname.

The list of vicars gives the full name and the date of institution, as well as the name of the vicar they took over from, also stating whether the previous vicar had resigned or died. The list begins from 1332. The list of churchwardens gives the year the person served as churchwarden and their name. It begins from 1430, but there are many gaps for the 15th century entries. Occasionally occupation or status (eg gent.) is given. There were generally two churchwardens for each year. Some names appear several times indicating they served on a number of different occasions. The list for the overseers/collectors of the poor follows the same format as for the churchwardens, but starts from 1563. For the churchwardens and overseers of the poor lists, the date is not shown on the text version, the PDF version must be viewed to see the relevant year.
