Browsing local records and setting up email alerts

Browsing the local records will not only allow you to view a list of document titles for a particular region it also enables you to set up an alert so you are emailed whenever a new document for that region is added to Genhound.

To see a complete list of local documents for a particular region go to the Browse local records page and select the relevant region/city option from the dropdown menu. There are also options to select a particular time period the documents must cover or to specify a date to list only documents added to Genhound on, or after, that date. At the bottom of the page is the list order option which allows you to choose how the resulting document list is displayed. If you don't choose anything the list will be displayed in the order that they were added to Genhound with the most recent first. Other options are alphabetically by title, and by time period, either earliest first or latest first.

When the list of titles is displayed you will also be given the option to set up an email alert for browsing options you have chosen. To do this simply give your alert a title and click on the "Create email alert" button. Genhound will then send you an email any time a document covering the relevant region (and time period if used) is added to the database. The email will tell you the document title, location and time period and provides a link to take you directly to a Genhound search page for that document.

You can view a list of the email alerts you have set up by clicking on "myAlerts" in the right hand menu of the myGenhound section of the site. You can delete an alert from the myAlerts list if you wish to stop receiving that email alert.
